Ronaldo’s Lesson: A Champion of Innovation

In football, being a champion takes more than just technique, physical strength, or genius.
True talent lies in the ability to know exactly what to do, even under conditions of extreme uncertainty. A skill that top players have developed and nurtured over time.

Take Cristiano Ronaldo, the global football star who had just moved to Juventus at the time: his explosiveness, combined with his extraordinary ability to “caress” the ball, wouldn’t have earned him 30 million euros a year if he hadn’t also developed a massive capability to read game situations on the pitch faster than anyone else, acting in the right way at the exact right moment.

During the latest Executive Master Lean Lifestyle®, ootball expert Adriano Bacconi shared a test showing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scoring a goal after the lights were turned off just a moment before his teammate crossed the ball.

Despite the immense difficulty of finding himself in complete darkness in front of the goal, Cristiano Ronaldo was perfectly able to strike the ball and find the back of the net. The experiment conducted on the Portuguese player aimed to demonstrate how vital it is to focus attention on the right details in order to predict how things will unfold: his skill in reading his teammate’s body language allows him to understand, even in the dark, where to shoot to hit the target.
